Jeffrey Dahmer murdered, raped and dismembered 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991.

His later murders often included acts of necrophilia and cannibalism. He also kept body parts of some of his victims in his Milwaukee apartment.

Dahmer was sentenced to life in prison, where he died in 1994 after a fellow inmate beat him to death.

Infamous Serial Killers

Serial killers commit some of the most horrifying acts of violence ever known: Ted Bundy, David Berkowitz (the “Son of Sam”), the Zodiac Killer, Jeffrey Dahmer, Jack the Ripper, John Wayne Gacy and Andrew Cunanan are among the most frightening criminals in history.

Deadliest Serial Killers of All Time - HISTORY

Poor little gays – always whinging that they are victims. They make out they are nice flower-arranging interior decorators. But the ugly facts won’t go away. The six worst serial killers in the annals of US criminal history were all homosexual. Donald Harvey, John Wayne Gacy, Patrick Kearney, Bruce Davis…

Let’s start with Donald Harvey, the “gay” nurse who confessed to killing 87 people and was convicted of 37 murders when jailed in 1987

Donald Harvey (born in Butler County, Ohio in 1952) is an American serial killer who claims to have murdered 87 people. The official estimates of the number of people he murdered range anywhere from 36 to 57 deaths. He is a self-professed “Angel of Death”. Harvey is currently serving four consecutive life sentences at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Ohio. His inmate number is A-199449.

Method of murder: Smothering with plastic and pillow / Poisoning (arsenic, cyanide, demerol, morphine, codeine) / Deprivation of oxygen using a faulty oxigen tank

Location: Kentucky/Ohio, USA

Status: Sentenced to life in prison in Ohio in August 1987. Sentenced to life in prison in Kentucky in November 1987

When John Powell died at the Drake Memorial Hospital in Cincinatti, Ohio, of cyanide poisining, police targeted orderly Donald Harvey, who had been present at the March, 1987 poisoning of Powell and when many other patients had mysteriously passed away. Under questioning Harvey admitted to killing more than fifty people throughout his life.

Digging further police found that the hospitals Harvey had worked at all had very high fatality rates and that some of his acquaintances and homosexual lovers had also perished suddenly. For his part, Harvey claimed that he had been simply putting ill patients out of their misery. He could not offer an explanation for the other deaths.

Harvey eventually pled guilty to 24 hospital slayings, receiving 20 years-to-life in prison for each count, and collected a life sentence for the deadly poisoning of a neighbor. Tried in Kentucky, Harvey again pled guilty, this time to eight counts of murder and one count of manslaughter, and was sentenced to eight life terms and one twenty year term.

Dating as far back as the age of eighteen, Harvey had worked in and around the medical profession, beginning his career as an orderly at the Marymount Hospital in London, Kentucky. He later confessed that during the ten month period he worked at this hospital, he killed at least a dozen patients. Harvey is insistent that he killed purely out of a sense of empathy for the sufferings of those who were terminally ill. However, he has also admitted that many of the killings he committed were due to anger at the victim.

Harvey is notable for having kept his crimes from coming to light for over 17 years. The true extent of his crimes may never be known, since so many were undetected for so long. Harvey is also notable for having used numerous methods to kill, such as arsenic cyanide insulin suffocation miscellaneous poisons morphine turning off ventilators administration of fluid tainted with hepatitis B and/or HIV (which resulted in a hepatitis infection, but no HIV infection, and illness rather than death) insertion of a coat hanger into a catheter, causing an abdominal puncture and subsequent peritonitis. Cyanide and arsenic were his favorite methods, with Harvey administering them via food, injection, or IV.

The majority of Harvey’s crimes took place at the Marymount Hospital in London, Kentucky, the Cincinnati V.A. Medical Hospital, and Cincinnati’s Drake Memorial Hospital. While working there, Harvey acquired the nickname “The Angel of Death,” as it was noted that he was present around a number of patients who later died.

In 1987, Harvey would confess to killing off at least a dozen patients in his ten months on the job, smothering two with pillows and hooking ten others up to near-empty oxygen tanks, all in an effort to “ease their suffering.”

Arrested for burglary on March 31, he pled guilty to a reduced charge of petty theft the next day, escaping with a $50 fine. The judge recommended psychiatric treatment for “his troubled condition,” but Harvey chose the air force instead, serving for ten months before he was prematurely discharged, in March 1972, on unspecified grounds.

Back home in Kentucky, Harvey was twice committed to the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Lexington, from July 16 to August 25, and again from September 17 to October 17. His mother ascribed the committals to mental disorders, with Donald kept in restraints, and his lawyers would later refer to a bungled suicide attempt. The recipient of 21 electroshock therapy treatments, Harvey emerged from the VA hospital with no visible improvement in his morbid condition.

Concealing his record, Harvey found work as a part-time nurse’s aide at Cardinal Hill Hospital, in Lexington, between February and August 1973. In June, he added a second nursing job, at Lexington’s Good Samaritan Hospital, remaining in that position through January 1974.

Between August 1974 and September 1975, he worked first as a telephone operator in Lexington, moving on to a job as a clerk at St. Luke’s Hospital in Fort Thomas, Kentucky. He kept his killing urge in check, somehow, but it became increasingly more difficult to manage, finally driving him away from home, across the border into Cincinnati.

From September 1975 through July 1985, Harvey held a variety of positions at the Cincinnati V.A. Medical Center, working as a nursing assistant, a housekeeping aide, a cardiac-catheterization technician, and an autopsy assistant. In the latter position, he sometimes stole tissue samples from the morgue, taking them home “for study.”

On the side, he murdered at least fifteen patients, supplementing his previous methods with an occasional dose of poison, once joking with ward nurses after a patient’s death that “I got rid of that one for you.” Nor were Harvey’s victims limited to suffering patients. Fuming at neighbor Diane Alexander after a quarrel, he laced her beverage with hepatitis serum, nearly killing her before the infection was diagnosed and treated by physicians.

On July 18, 1985, Harvey was caught leaving work with a suspicious satchel: inside, security guards found a .38-caliber pistol, hypodermic needles, surgical scissors and gloves, a cocaine spoon, two books of occult lore, and a biography of serial killer Charles Sobhraj. Cited by federal officers for bringing a weapon into the V.A. facility, Donald was fined $50 and forced to resign from his job.

Seven months later, in February 1986, Harvey was hired as a part-time nurse’s aide at Cincinnati’s Drake Memorial Hospital, later working his way up to a full-time position.

In thirteen months, before his ultimate arrest, he murdered 23 more patients, disconnecting life support equipment or injecting them with mixtures of arsenic, cyanide, and a petroleum-based cleanser. Outside of work, he sometimes practiced on his live-in lover, one Carl Hoeweler, poisoning Hoeweler after an argument, then nursing him back to health. Carl’s parents were also poisoned, the father surviving, while Hoeweler’s mother was killed.

On March 7, 1987, patient John Powell’s death was ruled a murder, autopsy results placing lethal doses of cyanide in his system. Donald Harvey was arrested in April, charged with one count of aggravated murder, and held under $200,000 bond when he filed a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. By August 11, he had confessed to a total of 33 slayings and bond was revoked two days later, with new charges filed.

As Harvey played the numbers game with prosecutors, adding victims to the tune of 52 in all, his mental state was questioned, psychiatric tests employed and scrutinized by experts. A spokesman for the Cincinnati prosecutor’s office said, “This man is sane, competent, but is a compulsive killer. He builds up tension in his body, so he kills people.” Harvey, for his part, insisted that most of the murders were “mercy” killings, admitting that some — including attacks on friends and acquaintances off the job — had been done “out of spite.” In televised interviews, Donald discussed his fascination with black magic, pointedly refusing to discuss his views on Satanism.

On August 18, 1987, Harvey pled guilty in Cincinnati on 24 counts of aggravated murder, four counts of attempted murder, and one count of felonious assault. A twenty-fifth guilty plea, four days later, earned him a total of four consecutive life sentences, barring parole for the first 80 years of his term. (For good measure, the court also levied $270,000 in fines against Harvey, with no realistic hope of collecting a penny.)

Moving on to Kentucky, Harvey confessed to a dozen Marymount slayings on September 7, 1987, entering a formal guilty plea on nine counts of murder in November. In breaking John Wayne Gacy’s record for accumulated victims, Harvey earned another eight life terms plus twenty years, but he was still not finished.

Back in Cincinnati during February 1988, he entered guilty pleas on three more homicides and three attempted murders, drawing three life sentences plus three terms of seven to 25 years on the latter charges.

Deadliest Serial Killers

Harold Shipman

Harold Shipman tops this list with 215 proven victims between 1975 and 1998. A medical doctor from the UK, Shipman was originally suspected of foul play when a colleague expressed concern at the high death rate of his patients, but there was insufficient evidence to prove anything. The majority of his victims were older women, killed by diamorphine injections. He was finally caught after forging the will of his final victim and leaving her estate in his name. Two theories suggest that he forged the will because he either wanted to be caught or wanted to retire early outside of the UK. At the time of his trial, he was found guilty of killing 15 patients and later linked to 200 more. It is believed that he stole expensive jewelry from his victims.

Luis Garavito

Number 2 on the list is Luis Garavito, from Colombia, who killed 138 confirmed people. Garavito pursued poor street boys between 6 and 16 years old by offering them small gifts to earn their trust. He would then take them for a walk until they tired whereby he would torture, rape, and finally cut their throats. He disposed of the bodies by dismembering them. He was arrested in April 1999 after a passerby heard a boy crying for help. Community members called the police and organized a search party. He was caught the same day. In court, he confessed to raping, torturing, and killing 147 young boys. He himself was a victim of sexual abuse as a child. The judge sentenced him to over 1,000 years in prison. However, Colombia only allows 50 years max, and because he helped police find bodies, the sentence was reduced to 22 years eligible for early release with good behavior.

Pedro López

Pedro López is next on the list for killing 110 people across Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru throughout the 1970’s. He grew up in Colombia and had a difficult childhood filled with abuse and sexual assault. Turning to a life of crime, he spent his first stint in jail in the late 60’s for stealing cars. His release initiated the murders. His victims were poor, young girls who he would lure to isolated areas to rape and murder. In Peru, he was caught by the Ayacucho community when he tried to kidnap a young girl and was almost submitted to the tribal law when a missionary convinced the community to call the police. The police deported him to Colombia. By the late 70’s, he was in Ecuador where he was once again caught trying to kidnap a girl from a market. He was arrested and unwilling to cooperate. An investigator went undercover as a fellow inmate and eventually got his confessions which led to discovering 57 bodies. López claimed to have killed 200 others in Colombia and Peru. On July 31, 1981, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison (Ecuador’s maximum sentence at the time) and was released after 14 years for good behavior. He was deported to Colombia where authorities were waiting to try him for another murder. During the trial, he was found insane and sentenced to a psychiatric facility in 1995. Three years later he was declared sane and released. He has since disappeared though there are suspicions that he is connected to a 2002 murder. These facts are reported in a documentary based on his life.

Other serial killers with high murder rates include: Daniel Camargo in Colombia and Ecuador (72), Pedro Rodrigues Filho in Brazil (71), Kampatimar Shankariya in India (70), Yang Xinhai in China (67), Abul Djabar in Afghanistan (65), Andrei Chikatilo in USSR (53), and Anatoly Onoprienko in USSR and Ukraine (52).

Top 10 Most Evil Serial Killers

If you are afraid of robberies, street crime and other fights then you would probably die of horror when you read the list of eccentric people involved in serial killings. Most of the people in our list of Top 10 Most Evil Serial Killers are psychotic and are suffering from severe mental illnesses that force them to convert into animals and even worse – cannibals. You can’t argue with these people, you can’t talk logic with them. You can’t even ask why you. They do what they do and don’t feel shame in it. In fact many of them keep the remains of their victims as trophies to celebrate their success.Mostly they kidnap people, rape them, then strangle or stab them to death. And then they dismember their bodies, cook them and eat them. There is no limit to their insanity. I felt quite safe after finding out that almost all of them are dead by now.

10. Joachim Kroll

Joachim Kroll was a beast. He was a serial killer and a cannibal. He used to cook and eat his victims to save his grocery bills. He was sentenced with nine lifetimes but died of a heart attack in 1991.

9. Javed Iqbal

Javed Iqbal killed hundred people within eighteen months. He drugged, raped and strangled his victims to death. He then cut the bodies and put them in acid filled drums. He was sentenced to be hanged till death but he was found dead in the prison. He said he hated this world and was not ashamed of his act.

8. Jeffrey Dahmer

Jeffery Dahmer was a cannibal who was engaged in necrophilia. His poor victims suffered strangling, dismemberment and forced sodomy. He committed his first murder at the tender age of 18. Initially there was no evidence against him. His neighbors reported strange smell from his apartment. Later when one of his victims led police to his apartment, it was found that the smell was coming from corpses. He stored various corpses in acid filled jars and also kept skulls in his closet. He was sentenced to 15 life terms which count to 937 years in prison.

7. Albert Fish

A very well-known and notorious name in the list of serial killer – Albert Fish, was nicknamed as Ware wolf of Wysteria. He has killed almost 100 children but the police only have record of 5 murders. This man was insanely brutal and he might have forgotten that he too was a human being. The tale of his vicious murders and brutality came out from his own mouth when his victim’s mother came to him in jail. He described that he stabbed her son with belt until he started bleeding then he cut his ears, nose and gouged his eyes, drank his blood, and made a stew out of him. This horrible description if given in detail can make a normal person go insane.

6. Andrei Chikatilo

This man killed 53 women and children within two decades. His first victim was a little girl who he lured into his house. He then attempted to rape her but when she tried to escape from him he stabbed her to death. He found pleasure in this and from then onward he killed and stabbed women to death for sexual pleasure. His victims included women who were prostitutes who were easily lured and children from both sex.

5. Richard Tenton Chase

We should be thankful to God that this mentally ill serial killer is no more in this world. This man probably came out of some ones most horrifying night mare. This man killed six people in just a month. He was known as ‘The Vampire’. He used to first kill his victim then rape the corpse and at the end bathe in their blood. This man who was engaged in necrophilia also drank the blood of his victim. He used to think that this will prevent Nazis from converting his blood into powder.

4. Ted Bundy

You will find this name in every list of serial killers. But his position in the list might differ. However we have put him on number four because of his notoriety in the world. This brutal killer kidnapped his victims, raped them and then killed them by different ways. He either used bludgeoning or strangulation to kill his prey. He used to approach his victims by either posing as an injured person or sometimes dressed as a policeman or any other authoritative person. He used to kidnap people in public places and in broad day light. He accepted 30 murders however it is thought that actual number is quite greater than this. He was given the punishment of ‘death by electric shocks’.

3. Thug Behram

This prolific murderer has killed more humans than any other man alive. He has reportedly murdered nine hundred and thirty one people. One wonders how someone can live with such debt of sin. He used his special cloth for every murder. He was the part of Indian Thuggee Cult. He was hanged till death in 1940 and the world got rid of a psychotic serial killer.

2. Elizabeth Bathory

Elizabeth is the most evil woman who ever lived. We know alright that women love to feel young and look beautiful but this eccentric lady (not worthy of being called a lady) went too far with this. She might have watched the movie Snow White way too many times and she decided to realize it. She murdered some 600 young virgin girls and then bathed in their blood to become younger and improve her complexion. She was caught and bricked into her own house till death.

1. Gilles De Rais

This man is probably the first serial killer to be recorded in history. In French History he is considered a noble captain but in reality he is known as the first serial killers who ever lived and that is also the reason for putting him on number one in the list of top 10 Most Evil Serial Killers. He has killed hundreds of young people. He murdered almost six hundred young boys after he raped and tortured them. This evil murderer lured young boys who had fair complexion and blue eyes like him and then raped them. After which he killed them and then asked his servants to compare the boys to see which one was the fairest. He is the most evil Serial killer in the world.

The Manson “Family”

In the 1960s, Charles Manson led a communal group of people called the Manson Family. Manson insisted to his followers that he was a Christ figure. Alongside LSD usage and isolation from the outside world, this led to the brainwashing of his family members.

The Manson family carried out multiple murders during the summer of 1969. Manson was hoping to pin the murders on the Black Panthers in an attempt to incite a race war. Gary Hinman was held hostage by Mary Brunner, Bobby Beausoleil and Susan Atkins for days in an attempt to retrieve his inheritance. Upon failing to do so, Beausoleil stabbed Hinman to death and the women proceeded to paint Black Panther symbols with his blood on the walls. Charles Watson was ordered by Mason to take Linda Kasabian, Susan Atkins and Patricia Krenwinkel to the Terry Melcher’s house and kill whomever was found there. Five people were murdered – Jay Sebring, pregnant actress Sharon Tate, Steven Parent, Abigail Folger and Wojciech Frykowski. Lastly, Steve “Clem” Grogan, Leslie Van Houten and four more members of the Tate family murdered Leno LaBianca and his wife, Rosemary in their Los Feliz home.

Although most of the Manson family members received the death penalty, it was revised to life in prison because California does not have the death penalty. Currently incarcerated at the Corcoran State Prison, Manson has been denied parole 16 times.

Carl “Charlie” Brandt

A supposed serial killer from Fort Wayne, Carl “Charlie” Brandt shot his father point blank at the age of 13 in 1971. He then murdered his pregnant mother who was taking a bath with the same gun. He proceeded to attempt to murder his sister, but his gun failed. Brandt was not diagnosed with any psychiatric disorders and was hence released after one year from the psychiatric hospital.

In 2004, due to Hurricane Ivan, Brandt and his wife Terri evacuated their home and moved in with Brandt’s niece Michelle. Just two weeks after they moved in, reports that Michelle was not answering her phone came in. When a neighbor went to investigate, she found Brandt’s body hanging from the rafters in the garage. He had hung himself after dismembering and disemboweling his niece with kitchen knives and stabbing his wife to death.

The efficiency and brutality of the crimes led Indiana police to link at least 2 more deaths to Brandt. It is widely believed that he was a serial killer.

John Edward Robinson Sr.

John Edward Robinson is also known as “the internet’s first serial killer.” He had an affinity for chatrooms and he self-identified as “Slavemaster” online to lure victims in the 90s.

In 1984, Robinson got his start when he hired a “sales representative” and sent her away for training, where she was never heard from again. Reportedly, he then hired two more women in 1985 and 1987 both of whom disappeared. One of the two women’s missing person’s report is still open today. Robinson became close with a librarian, Beverly Bonner, while being incarcerated for fraud. Upon his release, she left her husband to go work for him. She disappeared instantly but her family did not suspect foul play since her alimony checks were still being cashed out by Robinson.

One of the first “Slavemaster” encounters by Robinson was with Sheila Faith, who had a 15-year-old disabled daughter. Robinson posed as a wealthy businessman promising to pay for the daughter’s medical costs. Once the two women moved in with him, they disappeared. He continued to cash in their pension checks for the next seven years.

Marie Delphine LaLaurie

A New Orleans Creole socialite, Madam Marie Delphine LaLaurie was an alleged abuser and serial killer during the 1800s who inhabited the French Quarter.

Her third marriage was to physician Leonard Louis Nicolas LaLaurie. The couple purchased a home at 1140 Royal Street and built it up two stories including a separate quarter for their slaves. The property was maintained by LaLaurie herself.

In the 1830s, many people suspected that LaLaurie was involved in the mistreatment of her many slaves. A 12-year-old girl reportedly jumped to her death from the mansion so as to avoid a whipping after snagging one of Marie’s tangles in her hair by accident. In 1834 a fire broke out in the kitchen where officers found the 70-year-old cook chained to the stove by her ankle. The cook admitted to starting the fire so she could avoid going to the attic where no one returned from.

Upon LaLaurie’s refusal to allow anyone into the “uppermost room”, rioters broke down the doors and “seven slaves, more or less horribly mutilated … suspended by the neck, with their limbs apparently stretched and torn from one extremity to the other” were found. Reports of iron collars and head wounds deep enough to impair the individuals’ ability to function also emerged.

In regards to the inquiries and investigations Marie LaLaurie’s husband was quoted as to saying, “Some people had better stay at home rather than come to others’ houses to dictate laws and meddle with other people’s business.” During the mob breakouts, Marie LaLaurie fled New Orleans. Her whereabouts and final resting place are unknown.

Charles Starkweather

Charles Starkweather, an American serial killer from Lincoln, Nebraska, is the inspiration behind horror films such as Badlands, Natural Born Killers and The Sadist. He went with his underage girlfriend on a murderous road trip during early 1958 and ended in Wyoming.

Starkweather was 19-years of age and he met Caril Ann Fugate, a 14-year-old, via her elder sister, who at that time was dating one of his friends. The pair of them became a couple but her parents disapproved of the relationship due to Starkweather’s known troubled past. It is believed that Starkweather talked Fugate into killing her family so they can conveniently be together.

On January 21, 1958, Starkweather visited the Fugate home without is girlfriend. He shot both her stepfather and mother. Afterwards he strangled and stabbed her two-year-old younger sister. When his girlfriend came home, the couple hid the bodies together behind the house. They stayed at the house for 8 days until Fugate’s grandmother turned suspicious and called up the police.

The couple then fled to a family friend’s farm and Starkweather ended up shooting him as well. From there, they abandoned their vehicle and hitchhiked with two locals. Starkweather forced the pair to drive to a storm shelter and then shot the boy. He attempted to r*** the girl and upon being unsuccessful, he shot her in a rage. Later, he attempted to pin the girl’s murders on Fugate, who vehemently denied ever killing anyone while being with Starkweather.

Starkweather and Fugate then drove off to a wealthier region of Lincoln. They broke into a house, killed the lady living there alongside with her maid. Starkweather also snapped the family dog’s neck. The bodies were later found with multiple stab wounds. In the evening, when the lady’s husband came home, Starkweather shot him, too. Starkweather and Fugate then stole the car and fled.

In an attempt to get rid of the car, they stumbled across a traveling salesman asleep in his car whom they shot and stole his car. Because the car had a push-pedal emergency brake system and Starkweather was unacquainted with it, the car stalled. Starkweather lost no time in getting into an altercation with another driver which attracted a deputy sheriff to the scene.

At that point, Fugate fled the scene claiming that Starkweather was attempting to kill her. A high speed chase ensued. Starkweather was shot and had to pull over as he assumed that he would bleed to death. He then surrendered.

Starkweather was only convicted of Robert Jensen’s murder, the teenage local who gave him a ride. He received the death sentence in June 1959. Caril Ann served 17 years of prison time and walked free in 1976.

Richard Kuklinski

In New York, Richard Kuklinski was a contract killer who was active for almost 40 years. He was nicknamed “Iceman” for his trademark of freezing his victim’s bodies so as to hide the time of death.

According to Kuklinski, his first murder occurred in his adolescence, when he beat to death another boy with a coat hanger because he was bullying him. In the following years, he became a renowned pool shark and he would kill anyone to whom he would lose. His reputation gained the attention of the DeCavalcante crime family. In the early 50s, they began hiring him for gang related killings. Kuklinski also had ties with the Gambino family and the DeMeo crew.

Kuklinski’s claims as to why he avoided detection for so long were his different methods of killing people. From knives, guns and explosive to dire, poison, cyanide and sometimes even his bare hands “for the exercise.” His methods of disposing the body also varied greatly. Sometimes he would dismember his victims, other times he would place the bodies on top of cars to be crushed at junkyards.

Towards the end, the victims’ bodies started showing up and that eventually led the police to Kuklinski. He was arrested after a long undercover sting. He claims to have killed over 200 people in his 36-year long career as a hitman. His wife and kids were oblivious to his double life.

Jeffrey MacDonald

A former doctor, Jeffrey MacDonald was convicted in 1979 of killing his two daughters and pregnant wife in 1970.

At 3:42 AM February 17, 1970 at Fort Bragg (a military installation of the US Army located in North Carolina), dispatchers received an emergency call from MacDonald reporting a “stabbing.” Four MPDs arrived on the scene to find both MacDonald’s daughters (ages 5 and 2) dead in their beds. His pregnant wife lay dead in the master bedroom on the floor. She was stabbed in the neck 8-10 times and clubbed over the head. One of his daughters was stabbed 15 times with an ice pick and 33 times with a knife. His other daughter was beaten severely, bother her arms were broken, and stabbed 16 times with a knife and 21 times with an ice pick. She was draped in her father’s torn pajama shirt. Above the couple’s bed the word “Pig” was written in his wife’s blood. Jeffery MacDonald himself was found in the room with a minor concussions and a clean stab wound in the chest.

MacDonald claimed that four people broke into the house and bound and beat him. Among them was a woman who was chanting, “Acid is groovy, kill the pigs.” He stated that he was soon knocked and this was when the assailants left upstairs to murder the rest of the family. The charges against him were dropped. However, the evidence of the crime scene proved entirely different.

Since the blood type of every member in the MacDonald family was different, the evidence painted a clear picture of the whole scenario. It was theorized that MacDonald and his wife had an argument during which she hit him with a hairbrush which led to the minor head injury. He then beat her with a piece of lumber only to be disrupted by his daughter, Kimberly, who heard the commotion. She was accidentally struck and killed instantly. This explained how her blood and brain matter was in the master bedroom. MacDonald thought his wife was dead and then transported his daughter upstairs to her room. There he stabbed her which would explain he had her blood on his shirt despite him claiming that he wasn’t wearing it when he found the body. He then had to kill off the last witness and moved to his other daughter, Kristen’s, room. His wife by that time had woken up and ran in to shield her daughter allowing for her blood to appear in the two-year-old’s room. MacDonald killed them both and then transported his wife, wrapped in a sheet, back to the bedroom. This left behind a smudged footprint of her blood in the room.

In 1975, following multiple citizen complaints to the Justice Department, in North Caroline a grand jury indicted MacDonald. He was arrested within the hour in California. Following multiple court appeals and denials of double jeopardy and arguments for speedy trial, on July 16, 1979, the murder trial began. MacDonald was convicted after six hours of deliberation of one count of first degree murder, and two counts of second-degree murder. Although he still maintains his innocence, as of 2015, MacDonald serves at a federal institution in Maryland.

Seung-Hui Cho

In 2007, Seung-Hui Cho, a senior student at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute, initiated the Virginia Tech Massacre. At 7:15 AM on April 16 th , at the West Ambler Johnston Hall dormitory on campus, Cho first shot an RA and student. After two hours later, Cho shut the Norris Hall doors on the inside, sticking a note on the door stating that a bomb would go off if anyone attempted to open the doors. He began shooting at 9:40 AM. Cho walked through the school for 9 minutes, opening fire randomly. 30 people were killed and 17 more injured. He then shot himself in the head.

NBC News received a package 2 days later containing photographs, a DVD, video clips and a manifesto which explained all the motives behind his actions. Cho likened himself to Christ in his manifesto. He condemned rich kids, materialism, hedonism and debauchery.

In 2006, the infamous Capitol Hill Massacre in Seattle, Washington, was the work of Kyle Aaron Huff, a 28-year-old. On Saturday, March 25 th , at around 4 AM, Huff went to the “Better Off Undead” rave’s after party at the Capitol Hill Arts Center. He exchanged pleasantries although he knew no one. He left pretty soon but only returned with a .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun, a 12 gauge pistol grip shotgun, and multiple bandoliers with more than 300 rounds of ammunition for the guns. He shot 5 people outside and then entered the house, shooting more people. On the first floor, he shot two more people and injured at least one more. The police showed up and before they could ask him to lower his weapon, Huff shot himself.

Harry F. Powers

In 1931, Harry Powers was a serial killer who used the personal ads in Lonely Hearts magazine to find his victims. He would become close to his victims, demand money and then kill them. He used aliases such Cornelius Pierson, as well. His first victim was a woman with three children in Illinois whom he wrote to under the pseudonym. She disappeared soon after.

Powers then talked to another woman and took her to Iowa, claiming to live there and that he would marry her. He extracted $4000 from her prior to the pretend marriage and then she disappeared. Police got involved with the missing persons and no Cornelius Pierson in Fairmont, West Virginia was found. But the alleged individual matched Powers’ description. The murder scene was found below his garage at home. Five bodies were dug up from a trench behind his house. In the rooms, hair, a burned bank book, blood, and a child’s bloody footprint were found.

The women and girls were strangled by Powers and the young boy was beaten to death with a hammer. On March 18, 1932, Powers was executed by hanging.

Jeffrey Dahmer

Cannibal, necrophiliac and serial killer, Jeffrey Dahmer murdered 17 men between 1978 and 1991 in Wisconsin. He admitted to have killed his first at the age of 18 when he picked up a hitchhiker and beat him, strangled, dismembered and then pulverized the remains with acid

He would frequently solicit male prostitutes, pick up men at bars or even bring men to either his own apartment or his grandmother’s house. There he would drug and kill them. At times, he would attempt to preserve some remains such as organs, genitals and skulls. When arrested in 991, the complete skeleton of one victim was found in a filing cabinet. He was known for consuming his victims and would store his victim’s body parts in the freezer for “later.” He even experimented by injected one of his patient’s brain with hydrochloric acid so they could succumb to a “permanent, unresistant, submissive state.”

A would-be victim escaped the serial killer and went to the police. This led to Dahmer’s arrest. Four severed heads were found in his fridge. Polaroids of dismembered victims and more body parts were found around his apartment. One medical examiner at the scene said, “It was more like dismantling someone’s museum than an actual crime scene.”

During his interrogation, Dahmer confessed to all his crimes and waived his right to an attorney. For the 15 murders brought against him, he plead guilty but insane. Dahmer was sentenced to life plus 10 years for the first two counts, and life imprisonment plus 70 years for the final 13 because Wisconsin had abolished the death penalty. In 1994, another inmate bludgeoned Dahmer to death.

Justin Geiger

A sophomore at University of Wyoming, Justin killed himself alongside two other students on the morning of July 16, 2006. Following a small party at Geiger’s rented place, everyone left save for Geiger and the two other victims. At 2 in the morning, Geiger stabbed Adam Towler multiple times and then attacked his roommate. He stabbed and sodomizing him before the roommate could escape the house screaming for help. The small neighborhood was alerted and the police were called. Amber Carlson then unluckily enough walked straight into the room where Geiger killed Towler. He promptly shot her in the face and then shot himself. His motives were never discovered.

Every one of the 50 states of the US has its fair share of grisly serial killers that left a distinct mark behind. Some of them as notorious as Dahmer and others who were more concerned with killing families or relatives. Regardless, the carnage these disturbed individuals left in their wake was an unsettling wake up call. The supreme helplessness felt by the victims and those who had no power of controlling their lives can be felt through these words.

Deadliest Serial Killers of All Time - HISTORY

People gathered on Reddit to talk about which serial killer disturbs them the most. Make sure your doors are locked before reading.

Fred and Rose West

“A married couple, they sexually abused, tortured, and beat their child and teenaged daughters and other women, eventually killing several of their own children, along with other women, and burying them under the patio in their own garden. Absolutely sickening. Unlike many husband-wife murderer pairs, the wife, Rose, was completely in on it and took pleasure in the murders, committing some alone while her husband was in prison, rather than just being an accomplice.

Apparently, Fred would threaten his surviving children that they would “end up under the patio like Heather” (his own daughter, who they beat to death because they didn’t like the look on her face) if they misbehaved.” — 360Saturn

Jane Toppan

“A nurse turned serial killer, but not an “angel of mercy”-style one. She wanted to make people suffer, and she got off sexually on that. She would experiment with drugs, shoot up her patients, and then climb into bed with them and masturbate against them (and probably worse, but it was the 1800s so it wasn’t reported), as they were dying. Once she was kicked out of hospitals, she went on to murder a whole family for whom she worked as a private nurse. She confessed to 33 murders, but probably killed far more.” — kls81

The Tool Box Killers

“The Tool Box Killers. Mostly from hearing a snippet of the tape they made killing their last victim. The FBI use the tape now to desensitize their agents to the sounds of torture.” — robo2na

“The jurors ran outside of the courtroom and vomited as the audio was played at the trial.” — that1newjerseyan

The Toy Box Killer

“Imagine you wake up in a dark place with your arms and legs bound and this tape is playing:

‘Hello there, bitch. Are you comfortable right now? I doubt it. Wrists and ankles chained. Gagged. Probably blind folded. You are disoriented and scared, too, I would imagine. Perfectly normal, under the circumstances. For a little while, at least, you need to get your shit together and listen to this tape. It is very relevant to your situation. I’m going to tell you, in detail, why you have been kidnapped, what’s going to happen to you and how long you’ll be here…’

Vlado Taneski

“He was a journalist covering the crime beat in Macedonia, who killed little old women… and then wrote about their murders for his newspaper. That additional element I feel makes him even more disturbing, even if his methodology isn’t that startling compared to some of the others we’ve listed. It takes a seriously fucked up mind to plan all that out just to have something to write about.” — kls81

Denis Nilsen

“Denis Nilsen. He is a British serial killer and former policeman. He used to lure “lost” young men like drifters to his apartment with the promise of food. He would murder them and keep their bodies around to talk to until they decomposed too badly. then he would dismember and incinerate them. He killed 16 men before being caught.” — ZigguratofDoom

Dennis Rader

“BTK, Dennis Rader. This is mostly biased because I read John Douglas’ book about him, with all the excrutiating details of his crimes.

Sample: During a home invasion, he tied up the hands and feet of the mother, father, and brother who was around 9 yrs old. One by one, he then duct-taped a plastic bag over their heads. The young daughter was forced to sit on his lap and watch as they suffocated.

Finally, he took the daughter to the basement, put a noose around her neck and looped it around a pipe so the other end was free. He could then sit in a chair and periodically choke her until near death, loosening the rope intermittently to keep her alive. And, of course, he ejaculated on her after killing her. I would say he should get a taste of his own medicine, but he actually got off on doing this stuff to himself too.” — Nova_Shield

Amelia Dyer

“Amelia Dyer murdered possibly 400 infants during the Victorian period. Her picture literally makes me shudder.” — books_and_wine

“Basically, Amelia Dyer promised young soon to be mothers that she was a well respected care taker and nurse that was married. She told them she could take their baby and raise them, for a one time pay off for clothes and stuff. Once she got the baby and money, she would kill he baby and take the money. She did this over 400 times.” — __MrFancyPants__

“‘There, Dyer quickly found some white edging tape used in dressmaking, wound it twice around the baby’s neck and tied a knot. Death would not have been immediate. (Amelia later said “I used to like to watch them with the tape around their neck, but it was soon all over with them”)’

Columbian serial killers

“Sometimes USA serial killers seem so light compared to the ones in my country, in Colombia there are three men that tougher make for killing about 500 – 700 children across the country in the 70s and 80s.

1) Daniel Camargo: In the 1970s he raped and killed about 100 girls

2) Luis Alfredo GARAVITO: Growing up as a young boy in he 90s everyone knew and was protecting their kids from Garavito you knew his name and had it burned in your memory he Raped murdered and killed about 150 kids and he is currently in Jail in Colombia definitely the most famous of the three.

3) The Monster of the Andes: The most horrible of all of them (Though his nickname is awesome) he is accused of personally torturing, raping and murdering a total of 300+ Children Across Colombia, Peru and Ecuador, he was jailed in the 90s where about 150 murders were confirmed, THE WORST PART IS THE MOTHERFUCKER IS STILL ALIVE AND WAS FREED IN 2002 HE IS NOW SOMEWHERE LIVING A NORMAL LIFE (I HOPE HE IS DOING THAT) AFTER KILLING MORE THAN 300 KIDS, this man is called the worst murderer in recent history.

Just imagine the worst USA serial killers but combine it with an incompetent police force and thousands of kids form the countryside that in the 70s no one gave a fuck about and you can brew monsters like these.” — Machine_Meza

Albert Fish

“Child rapist and cannibal. Said to have raped a child in every state. He chose mentally handicapped or African-American children, then would rape, torture, murder and sometimes eat them. He encouraged his own children to spank him with a paddle studded with nails. He was an extreme sadist, and when he died, was found to have 29 needles pushed into his groin and pelvic area.

‘Took them to his home stripped them naked tied them in a closet then burned everything they had on. Several times every day and night he spanked them – tortured them – to make their meat good and tender. First he killed the 11 yr old boy, because he had the fattest ass and of course the most meat on it. Every part of his body was cooked and eaten except Head – bones and guts. He was Roasted in the oven, (all of his ass) boiled, broiled, fried, stewed.'” — AwfulLandlord

Karla Homolka

“Karla Homolka. Not only is that bitch SICK SICK SICK (raped and murdered her own sister, as well as other young girls), she’s out of jail because the idiots believed her BS story that she was just a victim. She’s FREE as a bird, AND despite the fact that she’s a sexual serial killer she was allowed to have children and keep them. She lives in Canada again.” — PigeonDrivingBus

Andrei Chikatilo

“Andrei Chikatilo – nicknamed the Butcher of Rostov, the Red Ripper, and the Rostov Ripper, who committed the sexual assault, murder, and mutilation of a minimum of 52 women and children between 1978 and 1990.

Robert Pickton

“Canada is pretty low crime with low murder rate so to think someone like this could operate undetected is unnerving.

Operated for almost 20 years. Was apparently a multimillionaire (maybe just in assets).

Killing hookers and feeding them to pigs isn’t that original but creepy none the less.” — l337hackzor

Gilles de Rais

“He had power as he was a baron, and he used that power to rape and kill hundreds of children. Forty naked bodies were found at his home in Machecoul alone.

At his trial, one of his servants testified that Gilles de Rais liked to fuck open wounds made with a special sword rather than their natural orifices. He also described that Gilles would get the children drunk, then take them up to a special room where they’d be hung up by ropes and tortured.

Gilles de Rais would then jack off on the kid, and take the child down to comfort him or her. He’d tell them all he wanted was to play with them. Then he’d brutally murder them or have one of his servants do it. He particularly liked watching the children react to big reveals, like when they first entered the special room and were told why they were here. One of his particular favourites was to watch the reaction of the kids while they died while sitting on them.

The scariest most disturbing thing about this man is that had he not kidnapped a priest, his crimes most likely never would’ve been brought to light. The church investigated him because he messed with the church. He held one of the highest offices in France, Maréchal de France, fought with Joan of Arc, and was a favourite of the king. Estimates place his murders between 150 on the low side and 800 on the high side.” — DaveyGee16

Ed Gein

“Ed Gein was an avid collector of human body parts, whether obtained from doing the killing himself or by exhuming buried people. When they searched his house they found (from wikipedia):

-Whole human bones and fragments
-Wastebasket made of human skin
-Human skin covering several chair seats
-Skulls on his bedposts
-Female skulls, some with the tops sawn off
-Bowls made from human skulls A corset made from a female torso skinned from shoulders to waist
-Leggings made from human leg skin
-Masks made from the skin from female heads
-Mary Hogan’s face mask in a paper bag
-Mary Hogan’s skull in a box
-Bernice Worden’s entire head in a burlap sack
-Bernice Worden’s heart “in a plastic bag in front of Gein’s potbellied stove”
-Nine vulvae in a shoe box
-A young girl’s dress and “the vulvas of two females judged to have been about fifteen years old”
-A belt made from female human nipples
-Four noses
-A pair of lips on a window shade drawstring
-A lampshade made from the skin of a human face
-Fingernails from female fingers” — liquor_for_breakfast

Richard Kuklinski

“He is also known as the iceman. He just randomly put a dip of cyanide in bars on other peoples’ burgers. He would do that in case he did not like the person. When killing others he stored them in ice boxes for years, so that the police could not link murders to locations efficiently.” — lebadger

The Green River Killer

“He would stash corpses in the woods and sleep with them until they began to rot. Even more disturbing is that Congressman Dave Reichert, the lead investigator in the green River killings. Missed “several opportunities” to capture the killer over 20 years due to bad police work. Wrote a book about the killer enraging victims families, and was elected to Congress as his reward by the good people of Washington.” — unicraven

Tommy Lynn Sells

“Suspected of killing over 22 people. Considered the most “evil” serial killer of all time by many psychologists due to his lack of “rules.” He killed men, women and children with equal lack of empathy. He once fully castrated and killed a man in front of his 8 months pregnant wife who then went into labor out of shock, he clubbed the newborn baby on the floor to kill it and then killed the mother.” — ne0n_valkyrie

“I watched some show about I think his last murder. He broke into a house and was in a bedroom killing some girl and another girl was in a top bunk bed frozen in fear. He didn’t see her at first and was closing door behind him and happened to look up and they made eye contact. In the video he was reenacting what happened for police and he just nonchalantly walked over and slashed her throat. Dude was a fucking psycho.” — mgoosen

Altemio Sanchez aka The Bike Path Rapist/Killer

“The reason this guy bothers me so much is a very personal one. I grew up in the Buffalo suburbs hearing about this guy from time to time, and his reputation. People being in fear, especially given how bike paths were just kinda everywhere. Hell I used to go riding up one all the time as it was right behind my house. In 2005 my family moved to Florida and a year later the news broke of it being Sanchez. My family couldn’t believe it. Why? Because for the first five years of my life, I lived right up the road from him on Allendale road at the very end of the street. Sanchez would host block parties and my family would attend them, myself included. I don’t really remember him, but the simple fact that he was doing this shit on the side while entertaining a seemingly normal life really bothers me. The man had committed some of the worst atrocities you could imagine and was having us over for a regular summer shindig. It gets even crazier with stories of people on the road working with him or my family’s friends from the area also having connections to him.

I’ve read plenty of deranged and fucked up stories of all kinds of serial killers but nothing really seemed to unsettle and deeply bother me as much as knowing there was a monster living just a few houses down from me when I was a kid.” — TheMaverickGirl
